It was a very exciting week getting ready for pet day! The whole school had to work really hard making posters, vegetable creations, sand saucers and icing biscuits all in one week. To make all these things we had to bring the things to make them to school so family and older sisters or brothers
couldn't help out.
I brought a calf to pet day which I had worked really hard on by, leading her every day, putting on and off her cover, feeding her and also cleaning her. This week Fordell school had the young farmer heats going on and I got in to the final which was a great achievement.
When arriving at pet day anything could happen. Before I walked in to the judging ring I told my calf to try and be good and she did. My sister's calf also did very well and it was against my calf to become champion. All we could do is wait and see at prize giving. Meanwhile, the young farmer competition took place and I used my silks, ran as fast as I could and won it! I didn't know how that happened but I did. It turned out that I also got champion calf with my sister getting a close second.
Everyone else did really well and all got prizes but really, it's not about winning ,it's about having a good time and I sure did!

Science!!!
In science this week room 2 has been making rockets to see who has made the rocket that goes the highest in the air! It has been very exciting because we had to keep on canceling the day we launched the rockets. Finally, on one sunny day, we went outside with the rockets. Everyone had different sized rockets. There was small rockets, big rockets and funny shaped rockets. At this point I couldn't wait to see how high they all went! The first person to launch a rocket was Ella. As all the rest of room 2 sat on the ground waiting and watching for an explosion to happen, Ella was slowly pushing air into the bottle when.... it went high up into the air and over the fence! All the other rockets went high too but not as high as this one! I think it was a great day to launch the rockets.

Drama
For poetry room 2 have been turning poems into drama and actions. To make a poem into drama you have to use emotions and thoughts from the poem to turn into actions and exciting voices. This is fun to do with friends and to be in groups because they are using the same poem, actions and voices. I like doing drama every week and learning more about drama. It teaches you how to be confident and how to look further into the poem and past the words.

The Flood is Back!!
It happened in 2006 and now it's happening again!! In 2006 there was a flood! When you looked outside you couldn't even see the tops of the posts and the fences! Its not as bad this time but everyone is saying it is 2006 all over again!! This morning we went for a walk around our house to get some photos of the flooding. My sister and I went into the water but not too far! We didn't want to fall in! It has been a very exciting morning and even the horses came over to see the flooding!! No school today because we can't even drive down our driveway to get there. Last night there were lots of cars going up and down the valley and so were we. You could see that already in the paddocks there were puddles turning into lakes!! Everyone is ringing up people in the valley to make sure they're ok. It has been all very exciting with a flood in Whangaehu again!
