The Amazing House Challenge!!!!!!

Friday was the day when Fordell school had the most important house challenge! For this interesting house challenge the whole house was involved working all day, at school! Painting, drawing, gluing and decorating the three huge shields. These are the shields which each house were to decorate and make it the best it could be. Kowhai, Tawa and Miro spent all day at school doing this and at break and lunch the rooms  the shields were in were out of bounds. This was an amazing day and for all our hard work only one house could win! As everyone settled down in the tin shed  there was a lot of whispering going on. The Assembly was the same as the other assemblies but at the end it was time to announce the winner of the amazing house challenge. Everyone was at the edge of their seats waiting, wanting their house name on the Fordell school shield but there can only be one winner. It  is... out of Kowhai, Tawa and Miro ........ it is....................... One of the best houses, KOWHAI!!!!!!!!!!WOW! What an amazing day the school  had and to finished off the house, Kowhai, is the winner of the house challenge. I think all the houses could have won that one at the sight of the three shields so Well Done to everyone!!!!!

Interesting fact for the week!!!

A lot of materials are very strong but the strongest material of all must be Duck tape! Did you know that if you are on an island with only duck tape you will survive!  You can make shelter, hammocks, chest (board game), traps ( for food), fire (for warmth), a water bottle and a boat with paddles, all with duck tape! So you can be on an island, survive and escape. Andy Warhol is a famous painter and ( in the old days) he painted pictures like the ones we made. Andy Warhol was an American, and he was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. Andy was born on the 6th of August, 1928 and died on the 22th of February, 1987. Andy Warhol had some much success in his life and that is why he is very famous!!!!

The Most Interesting Fact!

Now,  there are very huge things in the world that you might want to know about but extremely small things are even more interesting! The smallest flying robot insect in the world is to go into space!  Professor Robert J Wood explains:
"This is what I have been trying to do for literally the last 12 years. Now that we've got this unique platform, there are dozens of tests that we're starting to do, including more aggressive control maneuvers and landing." WOW!!! Did you know that! Well now you do!!

Museum Trip

Today Room 2 got into car groups and zoomed off to the museum. At this trip we all learnt about flight and birds. It was very interesting and fun learning how the movement of the birds feathers help them fly, turn and glide in the air. The skeletons of the birds were amazing to look at. Room2 got to feel a lot of different feathers and look at them as well. Soon we all had to do an activity sheet on the birds, bones and feathers. On the sheet there were also a lot of things we had to draw like: wings and feathers. All the birds we looked at were the ones that weren't in the museum on display. I thought the trip was very exciting and

fun. I'm glad we went.

Hiroshima Day

Hiroshima Day is on the 6th of August 1945. This is the day when the first atomic bomb was dropped. Two Americans flew a plane from America to Japan, carrying a deadly bomb. In World War Two, many bombs were making a boom but when the atomic bomb was let off it was the biggest noise you would have ever heard and the brightest flash you would have ever seen. As soon as it was dropped  100's of 1000's were killed in a click of the finger. I didn't think this was very successful as others say. But it did kill so many people in Japan and end the war. So what do you think? Successful or not?
